‘Lane robot’ helps traffic management in Shenzhen
The southern Chinese city of Shenzhen is putting to use a reversible lane with a machine-controlled guardrail in hopes of easing road congestion. Launched last Friday, the so-called “lane robot” helps in traffic management. It is the first of its kind in China.
Gridlocked traffic has become a persistent problem in most Chinese cities.
In a recent report published by TomTom detailing worldwide road congestion, China’s cities suffered from some of the worst traffic on earth. Of the 295 cities covered by the report, 18 from China were in the top 50.
