Gay man who fled Chechnya over fears for his life talks to Sky News
A Chechen man who was forced to flee his home due to persecution against homosexuals has told Sky News he’d be in danger from his own family if he tried to go home.
Gay men have reportedly been rounded up and imprisoned in Chechnya, in what activists and human rights groups are calling an “anti-gay purge”.
Just to warn you this report from our Russia correspondent John Sparks does contain footage of homophobic attacks.
