UK to give £27.5 million to train Lebanese forces
Although Lebanon’s forces are ‘incredibly resourceful’ against terrorist threats, Phillip Hammond today confirmed that an extra £19million will be given to Lebanese border forces. The money allocated to the forces will be for training 5,000 troops. He made the announcements during a trip to a military air base in Hamat in north Lebanon, where he watched Lebanese soldiers and special forces performing arrest, raid and several other military drills. £7.7 million had already been allocated to help the forces in previous announcements.
