The cost of Syria’s War – BBC News
**You may find some of the images in his report disturbing.**
The cost of Syria’s war should be measured in the thousands of lives lost and millions millions more that have been changed forever. But a monetary cost can be put on the conflict too – and that, says its President Bashar al Assad, is more than 285 billion dollars. But he also told Russian media that his army’s recent successes will help accelerate a political settlement. That’s desperately needed in the country’s biggest city – Aleppo, which has seen widescale violence and destruction. Our International Correspondent Ian Pannell has been covering the story from the beginning and caught up with a doctor he first met in 2012.
