Chicago’s Buckingham Fountain turns 90
The annual opening of Chicago’s Buckingham Fountain was held Saturday afternoon. The opening of Buckingham Fountain is also considered unofficial beginning of summer in Chicago, which is the windy city’s most lively season.
Built in 1927, Buckingham Fountain is one of the world’s largest fountains, as well as being one of the best decorated. It was donated by Kate S. Buckingham in honor of her late brother. In summer the fountain will be working for 20 minutes every hour, starting from dawn to late night.
