Two Chinese sites made it to the list of eight new Global Geoparks, UNESCO announced on Friday in Paris. Arxan is located in north China’s Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region, and is known for its landscape of volcanoes, hot springs and various lava formations. Meanwhile, Keketuohai, in northwestern Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, is characterized by its granite landscapes and an earthquake fault zone.
